Meet Robbie! He’s the owner of UGO Bags and the man behind our Travel Buddy program at Leukemia Texas. He creates beautiful and custom roller suitcases for leukemia patients of all ages.
Through the Travel Buddy program and our partnership with UGO Bags (UGOBags.com), patients can customize their very own suitcase with their favorite character, phrase, colors and pictures. These hard-shelled rolling suitcases are lightweight and can be easily sanitized.
This is such an important initiative at LTX because over 60% of our leukemia patients identify themselves as low to moderate income. A nice travel suitcase is often a luxury they can’t afford when facing expensive treatments. Many of our patients travel long distances to receive quality care and can face extensive hospital stays.
With Travel Buddy, we provide our patients the ability to travel in style. Best of all, they offer ease, convenience and reduce stress. You can send a suitcase to a patient in need with a donation of $250.
One of our most recent Travel Buddy recipients was Carleigh (pictured above left), a sweet patient in Temple, TX at McLane Children’s Hospital who was just diagnosed a few weeks ago. We hand-delivered a patient aid check, Buddy Bear, and Travel Buddy case to her over the holidays. We wanted her to know she always has a Buddy at Leukemia Texas, and that we are cheering for her full recovery.
